MD specializing in Internal Medicine, with a focus on developing countries and disaster and humanitarian relief contexts. Special interest in design and planning of public health policies. Research emphasis on global Health diplomacy and tropical diseases, including leptospirosis and chagas.
Former member of the Board of Directors of Doctors Without Borders – Latin America, with a 12-year volunteer track record with increasing levels of responsibility. Field experience in various countries, including Switzerland, Cuba, Brazil, Uruguay, and Mexico.
Alejandro served as Director General of International Relations at the Ministry of Health of Mexico, where promoted bilateral and multilateral cooperation on health. He was appointed Delegate of the Mexican Section of the United States-Mexico Border Health Commission and representative of the Ministry of Health to the Interagency Group on International Migration.
Fomerly, Alejandro was the National Medical Coordinator, where he was in charge of identifying and training human resources for health.
