Process Development Director at INIM
Tammy Boggiano is a scientist with a master´s degree in Biotechnology from the Havana University in Cuba. She is an expert in mammalian cell culture and fermentation, culture medium development and optimization, purification of MAbs and glycoproteins, process development as well as scale-up of biosimilars. Among other achievements, she is co-author of a patented method of obtaining cell lines in a protein-free medium and cell lines. Further to her extensive experience in Cuba, from 1995 to 1996 she worked internationally as guest scientist at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain. In 2006 she managed the technology transfer of a fermentation process from CIM to BIOCON in India. From 2007 to 2010 she took over the position Head of Process Development at the company Biotech Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Beijing, China, where she was responsible for the development and optimization of several therapeutic antibodies from lab to production process at 2000L fermentation scale. Back to Cuba, from 2010 to 2016, she took over the position Head of Development Department in Antyter Plant at the Molecular Immunology Center (CIM), working with some biosimilar candidates leading to the process development and characterization of those antibodies. In 2016 she was appointed Process Development Director at INIM, an R&D facility at CIM.
